The Pokémon World Championship is around the corner, and to make people get excited about the event, The Pokémon Company has announced a fantasy-football-inspired Pokemon game, Pokémon Fantasy Team!
This is the first time we have something like this in a World Championship, and it comes as a welcome surprise, as you can get some cool prizes if you win!

How Does It Work?
Pokemon Fantasy Team works like any other Fantasy game, albeit with a Pokémon Twist. You have to pick up to six different Pokémon you think will play a vital role at the VCG World Championship Tournament and/or six cards you think will be major players in the TCG Tournament.
Then as the respective tournaments progress, you’ll be awarded points based on your chosen team’s performance. The higher your score, the higher you’ll get in a top list per category.
You only need to create a team based on one category to be eligible for a physical prize but if you want to have more chances to win, it’s better if you do a team per each category you’ll find in the Fantasy Team.
To win a prize, you must be in the top 100 in a category, so if you get into the top 100 in two or three categories, you’ll win three prizes!
The Rules to Enter
There are two rules to participate; first, you must live in the US and be over the age of maturity in your state. If you are outside the US, you can’t participate in the Fantasy Team.
Second, if you happen to be a part of The Pokémon Company International (as an Employee) or you have an immediate member of family who is a Pokémon Company Employee, you can’t participate.
As the Pokémon World Tournament starts on August 11th, you have up to August 10th, 2023, at 8:00 PM (PDT) to log in, create, and submit your Fantasy Team. You can log in here.
Be aware that you need a Pokémon Trainers Club account to get started. The results of the Fantasy Team will be posted on the official 2023 Pokémon World Tournament webpage, on August 17th, 2023, at 11:59 PM (PDT).
Which Are The Prizes?
The top 100 players of each category of the Fantasy Team will receive an Umbreon plushie and a Booster Box of the newest TCG expansion, Obsidian Flames. And if you manage to get first on the top list, you’ll also get an oversized Spheal plushie!
Also, If you are among the first 10000 players to log into the game, you can also get a code for a Stretchy Form Tatsugiri you can claim in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. So if you are a keen collector in-game, you will need to hustle.
This World Championship is also expected to be a really eye-catching spectacle, as it’s the first time fans will see Paldea’s Pokémon in action in competitive matches.
